Oumou Sangare

Oumou Sangare is a Grammy Award-winning Malian Wassoulou musician, “The Songbird of Wassoulou”. Her music is based on age-old traditional songs, compelling to listen to and watch her perform. The portraits were taken when I directed a short film in Livingstone Studios for World Circuit Records. She sang to us as we setup. She invited me to a pop-up gig at Rough Trade East in London before playing The Barbican and I caught up with her at Jazz a Vienne in France.
